Our Story
It all began in 2010 with a college student at the University of Florida named Boyd, who began repairing smartphones to help pay his way through school. He would meet customers at a local coffee shop or in between classes, and word quickly spread about the college kid who would repair your phone right in front of you, usually in less than twenty minutes.
Upon graduation from college in 2014, with a loyal customer base to support him, Boyd set out to make his dreams of owning a real business a reality. iCare Smartphone Repair was born, and the business thrived with the support of customers who came to expect friendly, knowledgeable employees, competitive prices for high quality products and commitment to perfecting each customer’s experience. As the Gainesville store added local employees, and of course some college students, our owner Boyd looked to expand the concept to serve more customers.
Boyd grew up in Clay County, Florida, and saw the opportunity to open a store in his hometown in 2015, again supported by a faithful customer base that allowed the Fleming Island (Jacksonville) location to flourish. Back in Gainesville, Boyd had teamed up with an old intramurals teammate and fellow Gator, Kevin, to help continue to grow the company. iCare was not an uncommon name among smartphone repair stores, and it didn't fit the company’s plans for expansion.
Orange Phone Care was then created to emphasize that the business offered much more than just iPhone repairs. Beyond that, the Orange Phone Care logo is a symbol of Florida as a citrus state and serves as a reminder that this business was locally grown throughout Florida, by and for Floridians. In 2016, it was determined that fittingly, the next location would be in Kevin’s hometown of Daytona Beach. In 2017, we opened our store in Tampa, and in 2019 we added a fifth location in beautiful St. Petersburg - which is again, a place surrounded by family, friends and plenty of college students.​
